Peace Is Every Step

On a perfect day
in September
I walked with you
in my heart

Every leaf
was calling my name

I am still remembering
until we meet again.

-Shaista

Do you ever do walking meditation? Just one peaceful step today for the young monks and nuns of Bat Nha monastery in Lam Dong province, Vietnam. Why do the police attack the most peaceful members of society? Perhaps because peace brings about true change? These are young disciples of Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings, practising peace. Hospital times make me appreciate the sweetness of freedom even more.

My dear beautiful girl. A beautiful poem. Stunning. Simple.

Why are we so threatned by peace? Is it that peace brings freedom? Is it that oppressors hate those who live as if they are free?

I have carried you on my heart and mind, hoping you are well and will be well.

It's October and time for my glorious fall walks. I like the peaceful meditation time.

Sending peace and good thoughts your way, Shaista. ~x

Today as I cycled to work I thought that I should have walked instead. The day is pleasantly cool. Lovely poem. I wish you a quick recovery.

Greetings from London.

Sending you much love and wellness...what a beautiful poem. The most peaceful are attacked because they represent what is most feared...

much love to you!

just beautiful and peaceful, like leaves falling.

You bring up a good point. People are afraid of peace - and isn't that strange? Some element of human nature rails against it.

Yes, I like walking meditation, because I not only meditate, but makes me feel like a warrior. A warrior for peace, hope and love (first letter to the Corintians in The Message)

I have a friend who told me a beautiful little story about one day when he was out walking and started to say a mental "I love you" to everything that his eye fell upon. Just silently, to himself, but projecting love outward: "I love you" to the tree, "I love you" to the sky, "I love you" to the dog he passed, "I love you" to the leaves, "I love you" to the flowers, "I love you" to the sun......"I love you" to the bush.......and after a short while he said he could feel everything loving him back!
