Birthday in Bruges

Dear Beloveds,
I have packed myself off to Bruges - un petit birthday present to myself; since the last infusion I have been feeling rather blah, a stagnant river out of sorts with the current. So naturally I chose a land of chocolates, quaint cobbled streets, the Venice of the North... and accompanied by the lovely Angelina, I am having a memorable time. We are staying in a Gothic hotel perched on the edge of a canal... wish me luck so I don't fall in :)

Happy birthday and what a place to celebrate!

A few months back I read Bruges-La-Morte, have you read it? Warning: it may change your view of Bruges entirely...

xoxo Enjoy the chocolate, have some for me.

Happy, Happy Birthday! A few days late. I think yours is one day before mine, which I never knew! It makes me happy, especially knowing you are in that place, looking as lovely as ever and at peace and rest. I hope you'll tells us more when you return.

Happy birthday (belatedly but no less enthusiastically) — I just got back from a trip myself (to Krakow in Poland). Bruges is wonderful and a properly fairytale-like setting for a birthday. I hope you made it to nearby Ghent, another treat.

Bruges looks so beautiful...like a fairy tale. How come, in my forays about Europe, I never stopped there. You and Angelina must be having the most wonderful visit!

Bruges is one of the most romantic cities of the world, Shaista! I feel so lucky to live so nearby (the Netherlands is a hop, skip and a jump away!). One of these days we will go back. Thanks for bringing back the memories. It's the perfect place for a birthday celebration! Hmmm. My next birthday is June 13. That's an idea! :)
